Almost everyone is involved with Social Media in one form or another. We have LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Tumblr … and dozens more. It’s what you do with it that makes the difference. Sure the purpose of Social media is to promote yourself, event or product but when the purpose of a campaign is to bring awareness to hundreds of non-profit organizations – that’s when you know all the posting and updating is for a reason.
Enter Toyota.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 deserving nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public. A total of 500 finalists were selected based on their application as reviewed by an independent panel of judges who are experts in the fields of philanthropy and social responsibility. They are vying for the opportunity to win a new Toyota vehicle. Winning organizations will use the vehicles to help expand their reach and mission within the community.
An organization near and dear to my heart, Petey’s Promise, was selected as one of the 500 finalists and is hoping for a new Toyota Tundra. Petey’s Promise will be using the Tundra to pick-up and deliver large quantities of food and supplies to be distributed to applicants striving to keep their pets and families together. Please support Petey’s Promise on August 11, 2011. Voting will take place at www.facebook.com/toyota.
How have you used Social Media to bring awareness to the masses? If you haven’t yet, are you planning a campaign?
